The Coffee Grind Guide: Find Your Perfect Grind
The Coffee Grind Guide
The grind size of your coffee beans has a huge impact on flavor, extraction, and the quality of your brew. At Grind & Glow Coffee Co., we want to help you get the most out of every cup. Here's everything you need to know about choosing the right grind for your brew method.
☕ Whole Bean
Best for: Those who want maximum freshness and grind at home.
Whole beans stay fresh the longest. Grind just before brewing for the most vibrant, aromatic cup possible. Pair with a quality burr grinder for consistent results.
🪨 Coarse Grind
Best for: French Press, Cold Brew, Percolator
Coarse grounds are chunky and pebble-like. The longer steep times of these brew methods require a coarse grind to avoid over-extraction and bitterness.
⚖️ Medium Grind
Best for: Drip Coffee Makers, Pour Over, Siphon
The most versatile grind size. Medium grounds have a texture similar to coarse sand and work beautifully with most standard home brewing equipment.
🔬 Fine Grind
Best for: Moka Pot, AeroPress (short brew), Stovetop Espresso
Fine grounds feel almost like table salt. They allow for faster extraction, producing a bold, concentrated brew with rich body.
✨ Extra Fine / Espresso Grind
Best for: Espresso Machines
The finest grind of all — almost powdery. Espresso machines push hot water through tightly packed grounds under high pressure, requiring this ultra-fine consistency for a perfect shot with a rich crema.
